OSCEOLA CITY PARK
Located at 621 North State Street, between Highway 81/92 and Ridge Street
Osceola’s city park offers a basketball, tennis, and pickle ball court, a variety of playground equipment, a 9-hole frisbee golf course, public restrooms, and two sheltered picnic areas. Overnight camping is permitted on the south side for a limit of 3 days on a first come-first serve basis.
The main park shelter is available for rental for a picnic gathering, family reunion, or other event. Contact the City Office at 402-747-3411 for rental information.
THE POCKET PARK
Located on the southeast corner of State Street and Hawkeye Street of the downtown square
This beautiful mini park was created to promote the historic downtown area and features the renovated Harry Musselman Popcorn Stand, a small stage, benches, fountain, pergola, tables and chairs, a memorial section, and a city directory sign.
SWIMMING POOL
Located at 621 North State Street in the City Park
The pool was originally built in 1978 and updated in 2011. Features of the Olympic-sized pool include zero-depth entry with toddler sprinklers and a slide, two diving boards, and basketball hoop. The pool is open from the end of May to mid-August. Public swimming lessons are provided each year for a nominal fee or you may make arrangements with a lifeguard for private lessons. Water aerobics are also offered. Season passes may be purchased or a daily admission fee may be paid.
ARBORETUM
Located north of Highway 81/92 between North State and North Nance Street
Governors’ Park Arboretum is located just north of Highway 81/92 between North State and North Nance Streets. It features a walking trail and gazebo. It was named after the governors that have come from Osceola: Albinus Nance was the fourth governor (1879-1883) of the state. He was a homesteader who moved from Illinois to Osceola in 1871. John Hopwood Mickey was the 13th governor (1903-1907), and Ashton Shallenberger served as the 15th governor (1909-1911) and then member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He also moved from Illinois.
LUCY HOLM MEMORIAL COMPLEX - BALL PARK
Located at 1570 129th Road, Osceola
The main Ball Park is located south of town on 129th Road and features a baseball field, softball field, and a practice field. The grounds are equipped with bleachers, public restrooms, and a concession stand.
A smaller city tee-ball field is located east of the swimming pool at the intersection of North Kimmel and Ridge Streets.
RYAN HILL COUNTRY CLUB
Located at 13025 N Road, north of Highway 81/92
Ryan Hill Country Club is a beautiful nine-hole, par 33 course. Enjoy gently rolling bent grass greens and a very playable bluegrass rough, consisting of 6 par fours and 3 par threes. This well-conditioned course is playable for all levels. Ryan Hill is also home to a trap shooting league. The Clubhouse with food options is available on scheduled days. LUCY HOLM MEMORIAL TRAIL
Starts at the corner of Beebe and South Nance Streets
Osceola’s Hike/Bike Trail starts at the corner of Beebe and South Nance Streets, to the west of Annie Jeffrey Hospital, and runs south out of town past the Fairgrounds and out to the Ball Park. The trail is approximately three-fourths of a mile long.
POLK COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
Located south of Osceola on South Nance Street and N Blvd. at 12927 N Blvd.
The Fairgrounds are home to the Polk County Fair annually in July. The annual county fair includes 4-H exhibits and livestock/animal shows, rodeo, demolition derby, figure 8 race, 5K fun run, kiddie tractor pull, school art displays, swap meet/flea market, show and shine, concert/dance, and other activities. HUNTING AND FISHING
Near Osceola, Nebraska
Private and State Lakes in the area, along with the Platte River offer a variety of hunting and fishing opportunities. There are populations of pheasant, quail, duck, rabbit, and deer throughout the area. Visit outdoornebraska.gov for more information.
BOATING
Near Osceola, Nebraska
Lake North is the closest lake for boating which is located north of Columbus and approximately 28 miles north of Osceola. The area is also home to a number of private lakes. Visit outdoornebraska.gov for more information.
